The Lander Chamber of Commerce is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Executive Director to lead the organization’s membership growth, retention and overall operations. This position serves as the primary ambassador for the Chamber and for the vitality of the Lander business community.
The Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership, sales and membership development, financial oversight, staff and volunteer management and execution of policies established by the Board of Directors. This role requires a proactive self-starter who excels at building relationships, leading teams and advancing the Chamber’s mission.
Key Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy
Plan and execute a strategic membership sales and retention plan aligned with the Chamber’s mission and annual goals
Serve as the chief executive of the organization, implementing policies and direction set by the Board of Directors
Act as the primary liaison between the Board, staff, members and community stakeholders
Provide regular reports to the Board on progress toward goals, financial performance and organizational activities
Membership Development and Sales
Lead all internal and external membership sales efforts, with a strong focus on member retention
Build and maintain a diverse membership base representative of the Lander market area
Identify prospective members, conduct outreach and make outside sales calls to local businesses
Develop and manage membership satisfaction and engagement programs
Marketing and Communications
Collaborate to:
Identify the needs of prospective and existing members
Develop targeted messaging for different membership segments
Create and deploy marketing materials for membership sales and fundraising
Operations and Administration
Oversee day-to-day operations, including administrative systems and office management
Ensure accurate preparation of correspondence, reports, membership applications and proposals
Maintain organized and accessible filing and record‑keeping systems for staff and board use
Respond to inquiries regarding Chamber programs, community events, services, attractions and local resources
Financial and Organizational Management
Oversee organizational finances, budgeting and financial reporting
Deploy Chamber resources and personnel effectively to support strategic priorities
Lead, motivate and manage staff, contractors and volunteers
Community Engagement
Serve as a visible and trusted representative of the Chamber in the community
Occasionally travel for training, state events and professional development
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a confident relationship-builder who:
Communicates easily and builds trust with a wide range of stakeholders
Works independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
Enjoys strategic planning and follow‑through
Is comfortable with sales conversations and relationship‑based outreach
Handles conflict professionally and maintains composure in challenging situations
Leads with empathy and adapts communication and leadership styles as needed
Is relied upon by others for guidance, problem‑solving and execution
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
Minimum of three years of business‑to‑business sales experience
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and collaborative partners
Knowledge of the Wyoming business community strongly preferred
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
