As an Aero Engineer you will work spacecraft plume contamination analysis using gas dynamics to model how plumes affect sensitive hardware, preventing mission failure by analyzing molecular transport, creating CFD/DSMC models, possibly selecting materials, and working across teams from design to launch, focusing on rarefied flows and contamination control. In addition you will support hypersonic aerodynamics where you will help develop aerodynamic databases and help define environments associated with thermal and pressure loads across all flight regimes.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Physics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and/or equivalent education and experience

Performing plume analysis and high altitude DSMC analysis

Performing a variety of aerodynamics analyses related to missile systems and with a particular emphasis on hypersonics and hydrodynamics.

Creating technical memos.

Providing input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews.

Presenting analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel during technical exchange meetings.

Desired Skills:

Hypersonic Aero/Thermal experience

DSMC analysis

Plume analysis

CFD Meshing – Pointwise preferred

CFD experience – Fluent, GASP, Cart3D, CBAERO, Star-CCM+ preferred

CFD Post-processing

Large dataset post-processing experience

Software development / programming experience (Fortran, C, Python, etc)

Integrated system level modeling and simulation

Linux experience

MS Office experience

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
