Job Description Sprinkler Inspector in the Fire and Safety Industry is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems in buildings to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes and standards. The role works closely with building owners, facility managers, and fire departments to safeguard people and property.

Responsibilities

Inspecting and testing fire sprinkler systems in accordance with local, state, and national codes and standards.

Identifying deficiencies and making recommendations for repairs or upgrades.

Providing reports and documentation of inspection results to building owners, facility managers, and fire departments.

Working with technicians to ensure timely and cost‑effective repairs and upgrades.

Ensuring water pressure, valve operation, and sprinkler head coverage meet all regulations.

Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records of inspection results, repair work, and equipment maintenance.

Providing training and education on fire sprinkler systems, emergency procedures, and evacuation protocols.

Investigating false alarms and developing strategies to reduce frequency.

Keeping current with changes in fire codes and recommending necessary system updates.

Coordinating emergency response procedures with fire departments.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in fire sprinkler systems and inspection.

Certification from a recognized organization such as NICET may be required.

Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Attention to detail and the ability to analyze technical data and reports.

Physical Requirements

Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.

Able to work in unusual and difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 60 feet, and within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings.

Read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.

Ability to work flexible hours.
