University of Colorado Boulder . The Office of Information Technology invites applications for a role supporting campus data centers and assisting the Data Center Manager. Responsibilities include customer‑facing operations such as provisioning rack space, coordinating deployments, handling requests, and maintaining data center records. The position also supports critical infrastructure—chillers, CRACs/CRAHs, UPS, generators, and security hardware—requiring color identification (white, red, blue, green) and lifting capability. Working on‑site with shift‑based options (6 AM‑3 PM, 7 AM‑4 PM, etc.) and occasional on‑call after‑hours duties.

Core Responsibilities

Customer Deployments:

Coordinate equipment arrivals, installation (PDU, server, cabling), labeling, and record‑keeping via the DCIM tool.

Remote Hands:

Execute customer requests including visual inspections, crash‑cart connections, cabling changes, server component installs/troubleshooting, shipping, and vendor escorting.

Cancels/Decommissions:

Communicate cancellations, uninstall hardware, update DCIM, remove cabling, and complete asset surplus procedures.

Site Access:

Provision and remove customer access, update access lists, and conduct data center tours.

Service Documentation:

Collaborate with the Data Center Manager to generate and update published documentation.

Monitoring:

Process service and infrastructure alarms during and after hours, perform physical actions, and execute escalations per SOPs.

Preventative Maintenance:

Coordinate vendors or CU Facilities for maintenance of chillers, CRACs/CRAHs, UPS, generators, and security hardware.

Inspections & Walkthroughs:

Review walkthroughs, create tickets for non‑passing findings, and conduct site walkthroughs as needed.

Inventory Management:

Conduct cycle counts, audits, allocate consumables, and create project BOMs.

Emergency Procedures:

Perform emergency procedures during service‑impacting events and update related SOPs.

Additional Expectations

Primarily on‑site work; schedule may vary with flexible shift options.

After‑hours on‑call rotation; additional weekend work may be required.

Compensation & Benefits Salary range:

$55,100 – $65,497

annually. Benefits include medical, dental, retirement plans; generous PTO; tuition assistance for self and dependents; and an ECO Pass for local transit. Additional perks are available through the CU Advantage program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.

At least two years of professional experience in a related field.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Desired Skills

Experience with network and fiber testers (Fluke/Viaavi).

Datacom cabling certifications (copper & fiber).

Server/PC hardware repair experience.

Support for data center critical infrastructure (CRACs/CRAHs, pumps, chillers, UPS, generators, electrical panels).

IT field experience.
