Summary : Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent responsible for coordinating, planning, and supervising assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline area. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule.
Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, understand contract documents, and coordinate plans with design engineers.
Develop and manage project schedule and site logistics plan, utilize tools and equipment, and collaborate with partner superintendents.
Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, interview/hire/transfer/dismiss team members.
Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, and handle team member training.
Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions; seek process improvements.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
OR 10 years of trade experience.
Current driver’s license.
Ability to fulfill development to close‑out responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
Detail‑oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback.
Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.
Pay Ranges
Superintendent I
– Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience; base pay range $111,400 – $167,100.
Superintendent II
– Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience; base pay range $130,100 – $195,200.
Actual ranges are higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%.
This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
