Summary Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent responsible for coordinating, planning, and supervising assistants, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline area. The role also focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.

This position offers opportunities at both Superintendent I and II levels, allowing candidates to apply based on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by factors such as experience and location.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.

Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; understand contract documents and coordinate plans with design engineers.

Develop and manage project schedule, site logistics plan, utilize tools and equipment, and collaborate with project partner superintendents.

Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings; supervise project partners; interview, hire, transfer, or dismiss team members.

Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, provide team member training; conduct career development discussions.

Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance.

Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.

OR 10 years of trade experience.

Current driver’s license.

Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.

Detail‑oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.

Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.

Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.

Effective communication, active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback.

Superintendent I

Minimum qualifications: 5 years of construction management or related experience.

Base pay range: $111,400 – $167,100.

Superintendent II

Minimum qualifications: 8 years of construction management or related experience.

Base pay range: $130,100 – $195,200.

Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%.
