Job Summary
The Academic Success Coordinator will plan, develop, and manage the implementation and monitoring of tutoring and academic support programs related to math and the physical sciences in general education courses for the Academic Success Center (ASC) at Augusta University. The ASC supports a range of students, from high‑achieving individuals to those experiencing temporary academic difficulties, as they seek to realize their academic potential. The Coordinator will collaborate with faculty across campus, integrate course requirements into tutoring, provide one‑on‑one, group, online tutoring, and supplemental instruction, and lead seminars, workshops, and life‑skills coaching.
Responsibilities MANAGE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAMMING IN DESIGNATED AREAS: Develop and maintain a tutoring program for content courses, craft effective processes for staffing the ASC with student‑tutors (recruitment, screening, orientations, pedagogical training, and professional development), build a comprehensive tutoring schedule, manage tutor work schedules, supervise a large tutoring staff, and work closely with the ASC office manager for payroll and documentation.
SUPPORT THE GOALS OF THE ASC THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSITY: Collaborate with faculty on subject‑matter content, provide feedback and follow‑up on student progress, liaise with Executive Director and other university programs to develop programming that promotes student academic success.
ENGAGE IN DATA COLLECTION AND DEVELOP REPORTS: Maintain data on enrollment, attendance, retention, and benchmarks; create regular reports on tutoring services.
DEVELOP A VIRTUAL PRESENCE FOR ASC: Create online learning modules in academic specialty fields, and maintain web content for workshops and seminars.
ENGAGE WITH STUDENTS TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC SUCCESS SKILLS: Provide one‑on‑one and group workshops in academic content areas, offer support in academic life skills.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field and two years of experience working with various student populations. MSc, MEd, MAT and equivalents accepted.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment, and evaluation skills.
Excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills with experience in developing innovative programs.
Flexible attitude and agile approach for a fast‑paced work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience with BANNER and student‑tracking software preferred.
Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint (or comparable software).
Experience working and interacting effectively with various groups of staff.
Demonstrated experience working with students for academic success.
Knowledge of teaching, pedagogy, and pedagogical strategies.
Ability to follow directions, implement plans, and respond/follow up with FYE/SYE Director & Coordinator.
Demonstrated ability in working as part of a team, establishing rapport, and collaborating with a variety of organizational stakeholders.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
Shift: Days/M‑F (work outside normal business hours may be required). Pay Band: B8 Salary: commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum midpoint). Recruitment Period: Until Filled. Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan); earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; tuition assistance for full‑time employees employed for more than 6 months.
Conditions of Employment A background check review is required prior to starting with Augusta University.
Credit check and/or approved departmental purchase card usage may be required for Positions of Trust.
Motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle.
Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degree(s) and post‑secondary coursework (original transcripts). Foreign‑institution graduates must provide an educational/credential evaluation.
