Job Summary The
Academic Success Coordinator
will plan, develop, and manage the implementation and monitoring of tutoring and academic support programs related to math and the physical sciences in general education courses for the Academic Success Center (ASC) at Augusta University. The ASC is designed to support a range of students, from high‑achieving individuals to those experiencing temporary academic difficulties, as they seek to realize their academic potential. The coordinator will collaborate with faculty across campus to integrate course requirements into the tutoring program, provide students with effective tutoring and encouragement in lower‑division math, biology, chemistry and physics courses, one‑on‑one peer tutoring, group tutoring, online tutoring modules, supplemental instruction, seminars and workshops, and coaching in life‑skills/academic success strategies.
Responsibilities
MANAGE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAMMING IN DESIGNATED AREAS: develop and maintain a tutoring program for content courses, implement effective staffing processes (recruitment, screening, orientations, tutoring training and professional development), create a comprehensive tutoring schedule, supervise large tutoring staff, and work with the ASC office manager for payroll and documentation.
SUPPORT THE GOALS OF THE ASC THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSITY: collaborate and communicate with faculty regarding subject‑matter content, provide feedback and follow‑up on student progress, and serve as a liaison with university programs and services to promote student success.
ENGAGE IN DATA COLLECTION AND DEVELOP REPORTS: maintain data related to student enrollment, attendance, retention and benchmarking for program assessment, and create regular reports on tutoring services.
DEVELOP A VIRTUAL PRESENCE FOR ASC: develop online learning modules in academic specialty fields and maintain web content for workshops/seminars.
ENGAGE WITH STUDENTS TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC SUCCESS SKILLS: provide one‑on‑one and group workshops and support in academic life‑skills.
OTHER DUTIES: perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of experience working with various student populations (MSc, MEd, MAT and equivalents accepted).
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment and evaluation skills; excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills; flexible attitude and an agile approach for a fast‑paced work environment; experience with BANNER and student‑tracking software preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge: demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint or comparable software programs; knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with various groups of staff.
Skills: demonstrated experience working with students for academic success; demonstrated experience with teaching, pedagogy and pedagogical strategies.
Abilities: ability to follow directions, implement plans and respond/follow‑up with FYE/SYE Director & Coordinator; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, establish rapport and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift: Days/M‑F (work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B8 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint). Recruitment Period: Until Filled
Benefits: health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan, vacation, sick leave and 13 paid holidays. Full‑time employees may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
Conditions of Employment All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a background check review prior to starting at Augusta University. If applicable, the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust or approved departmental purchase‑card usage. Motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle. For faculty hires, proof of completed academic degrees and transcripts will be required; foreign‑institution graduates may need an educational/credential evaluation.
