Patient Financial Counselor in the Patient Financial Services Department Hours & Shift:
Full-time (1.0 FTE) day shift position, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Role Responsibilities
Responsible for all self-pay account collections Establishing payment plans with patients as necessary in accordance with hospital policies, along with timely monitoring of those accounts Assisting patients with billing issues and questions Assisting patients with complaints regarding their accounts Meeting with patients to determine uncompensated care within the guidelines of the organization’s financial assistance program Monitors and refers accounts to collections in accordance with hospital policies Assists the collection agency with questions and follow-up and approval of accounts for lawsuits Process returned mail and update accounts with correct addresses Respond to all phone calls from patients, insurance companies or other departments in an efficient and courteous manner Qualifications
Two year or greater education degree preferred with a preference in accounting or related business type of field Minimum of two years healthcare or insurance experience preferred Strong computer skills are required; Microsoft Word and Excel experience are preferred Excellent communication skills required Excellent customer service skills required Prior Epic experience is preferred Ability to handle multiple priorities and prioritize as needed Employee Benefits
