Traffic Specialist – State of Missouri
Location: Central District Office, 1511 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City, MO.

Overview The Traffic Specialist reviews, approves, and inspects work related to roadway access, traffic handling, and excavation on Department of Transportation right of way. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
Prepare and issue permits to utilities, contractors, developers, governmental entities, and individuals for work on department right of way following specified project requirements.
Meet with contractors, developers, governmental entities, individuals, and utility companies to explain procedures and department policies on granting permits.
Review and approve proposed plans for construction on department right of way for feasibility of drainage, sight distance, landscaping, curbing, traffic flow and related requirements; recommend modifications and coordinate with other district departments.
Review work zone requests and approve or restrict activity based on traffic impact and community effect.
Conduct field inspections of projects and work zones; perform measurements of traffic control devices to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Two of the following: (a) Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field and two years of experience in construction inspection, highway design, traffic technician positions, or related field; or (b) Four years of experience in construction inspection, highway design, traffic technician positions, or related field.
Special Working Conditions
Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
May require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
