Volunteer Coordinator, U.S. Program Minneapolis | January 2026 | 32 hrs/week, benefits‑eligible

Reports To Program Director

Employer Alight – a borderless team of 2,500 staff worldwide dedicated to delivering humane services to displaced communities.

Responsibilities

Volunteer Engagement – 75%:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteers and act as the bridge to Alight staff and customers.

Maintain the Volunteer Platform, Timecounts, posting opportunities, updating information, and responding to inquiries in a timely, high‑touch manner.

Ensure all volunteers complete required onboarding documentation and background checks prior to scheduling.

Provide volunteer orientations and support new volunteers as they transition into their roles.

Train volunteers in role‑specific responsibilities and new skills, as needed.

Lead all volunteer communications before, during, and after service opportunities, including timely gratitude messages.

Ensure a safe, inclusive, and well‑supported working environment for all volunteers.

Coordination with Program and Event Teams – 10%:

Proactively plan and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring activities are fully staffed and contingency plans are in place.

Coordinate with program and events teams to develop and share staffing plans that align volunteer roles, shifts, logistics, and overall experience with program or event needs.

Data Tracking and Continuous Improvement – 10%:

Update and maintain the volunteer scheduling system, tracking volunteer participation and hours.

Provide regular reporting on volunteer engagement and hours to the program manager.

Evaluate volunteer performance and feedback, sharing insights with the program manager to support continuous improvement.

Other – 5%:

Other duties as assigned to support the work of the U.S. Enterprise, such as contributing to program design, reporting, event planning, and insights conversations with newcomers and partner organizations.

Prior experience in project or volunteer management desirable; experience with Timecounts platform a plus.

Proficiency in an additional language preferred.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Detail‑oriented and systems‑minded; ability to stay engaged in repetitive tasks and critical thinking projects.

Demonstrated ability to follow through on short‑ and long‑term projects and communicate progress clearly to the team.

Highly motivated self‑starter who works well independently while taking direction effectively.

Flexible and resilient, navigating ambiguity and coping with stressful situations.

Takes ownership of responsibilities and delivers work with care and accountability.

Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with multi‑cultural, multi‑lingual staff, volunteers, and communities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Willingness to work on‑site, travel between program locations, and work flexible weekday and occasional weekend hours.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; reliable transportation and ability to drive to project sites.

Benefits & Compensation Compensation: $24.52/hr – $26.93/hr, depending on experience.
