Base pay range $17.00/hr - $20.50/hr

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities

Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.

Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience, including interpersonal habits (greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).

Develop strong relationships with the most valuable customers.

Operations

Assist in the practice of pharmacy under supervision, review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, checking for interactions, and supporting workflow.

Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies and Quality Improvement Program.

Adhere strictly to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable dispensing activities.

Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers to the OTC aisle.

Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention.

Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly, and perform other clerical duties as assigned.

Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments, filing claims for overages and shortages.

Assist pharmacist with clinical services, including the collection and labeling of samples, coordination of clinical services, Walgreens clinics, and external providers.

Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with local medical community, including outreach to health groups and communities for growth opportunities.

Maintain pharmacy department cleanliness and organization.

Adhere to all company policies, maintain respectful coworker relationships, and complete special assignments.

Training & Personal Development

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification/registration.

Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits, maintaining knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications

Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.

Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.

Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.

Prefer good computer skills.

Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.

Prefer PTCB certification.
