Base pay range $17.00/hr - $20.50/hr
Responsibilities
Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, following state and federal regulations and company policies.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and, if PTCB certified, coach other technicians and cashiers in system and register operation.
Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting and assisting customers, resolving issues, and sharing best practices.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug data, filling prescriptions accurately, verifying medicines, checking for interactions, and scheduling workflow.
Report prescription errors to pharmacist immediately and comply with company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Adhere to the Walgreen’s policy on Good Faith Dispensing for all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Accountably register sales, handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle, as well as handle telephone calls and manual claims for third‑party programs.
Support pharmacy inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, and filing claims for overages or shortages.
Assist the pharmacist with clinical services, including sample collection, labeling, and coordination with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Collaborate with the local medical community by engaging physicians, nurses, and other health providers, and by contributing to provider outreach and growth opportunities.
Maintain a clean, stocked, and orderly Pharmacy Department, ensuring proper appearance and adherence to asset protection techniques.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Customer Experience
Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, and ensuring a positive experience.
Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Assist in scheduling, maintaining workflow, and reporting errors.
Account for all sales and handle cash register responsibilities.
Assist with inventory management and claim processing.
Support clinical services and external provider coordination.
Assist in local medical community relationships and outreach.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the Pharmacy Department.
Follow all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
Complete special assignments.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
Attend requested training, acquire continuing education credits, and stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prior work experience with Walgreens.
Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
Good computer skills.
Knowledge of store inventory control.
PTCB certification.
