Join the leader in Environment Testing. Eurofins Environment Testing has a fulltime entry level opportunity with benefits. The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOPs, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. Full-time entry level position with Benefits, Monday - Friday. 9:00am-5:00pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Portsmouth, NH are encouraged to apply. Compensation $19-20/hour (depends on experience). This is an entry level position for those interested in starting their career in a laboratory setting. College degree not required. All offers of employment are contingent upon a successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sample Receiving
Prepare samples from processing
Accepts and signs for deliveries.
Assists in unloading shipments from delivery truck.
Opens coolers and inspects contents of shipments. Checks documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for.
Distributes samples in different departments as appropriate.
Follows strict safety and quality control procedures.
Stores, restocks, and shelves samples as necessary.
Ensures that work area is clean and organized.
Enters records in LIMS system
Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
Regular attendance and punctuality
Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
Retrieves samples from Sample Control for analysis.
Preparation of samples using standard techniques
Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
Calculating data
Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
Performing routine instrument maintenance
Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins environmental health safety and quality assurance standards
Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area
Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
Aliquots and weighs samples
Washes glassware
Lab Technician
Performs microbiology analysis by Idexx methods, which may include, but is not limited to:
Handling and processing samples following aseptic procedures.
Preparing reagents and media.
Preparing dilutions.
Recording and tracking incubation times.
Resolves discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
Prepares general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
Washes laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
Stocks laboratory supplies.
Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Cleans work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.
Assists other laboratory areas as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Pays close attention to detail.
Possesses physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy boxes received by the lab.
Exhibits ability to use LIMS software competently.
Reading, writing and speaking skills
Problem solving skills
Team participation and meeting management skills
Time management and organization skills
Use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts
Complete work within time and quality constraints
Work independently following written or verbal instructions
Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing
Education/Experience:
HS Diploma Required
High school Chemistry coursework, basic laboratory experience
Previous production-oriented work (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice
Perform other duties as assigned
