McKinley Paper and Packaging Company is seeking an experienced Safety and Quality Manager for our fast‑paced facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA. This position is responsible for implementing and administering all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and safe practices, ultimately achieving full compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations while providing technical expertise in the application of Total Quality principles, processes, and tools to improve product and service quality as well as operational results. The Safety and Quality Manager will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
Achieve the desired culture towards Safety, Environmental, and Quality initiatives through personal commitment and focus, ensuring compliance with plant and corporate best practices and policies.
Foster and encourage team commitment for Safety, Environmental, and Quality considerations and provide feedback to Plant leadership.
Conduct regulatory assessments and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Develop measures to address ergonomics, air quality, and other aspects of workplace safety that could affect the health and well‑being of employees.
Develop key process indicators (KPIs) and measure improvements through Statistical Process Control.
Conduct New Hire Safety & Quality orientation training.
Perform incident investigations promptly, conduct root cause analysis, and determine action plans for eliminating hazards.
Train personnel on Total Quality principles.
Respond appropriately to reports of critical quality defects on in‑process and finished products and communicate appropriately with the customer and plant leadership.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience within the Corrugated Packaging industry.
Experience in Total Quality Management and/or additional quality processes.
Advanced knowledge of OSHA laws and best‑in‑class Safety techniques and processes.
Clear, concise oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence others without formal authority.
Experience leading a strong culture initiative regarding Safety and Quality practices.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent field experience in EHS/Quality preferred.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Excel and database management and record keeping.
