Required License/Registration/Certification Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds daily (and 25–50 pounds frequently); ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure may involve communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift Must be able to work three 12‑hour shifts (7 AM–7:30 PM), totaling 36 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
Job Summary The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, patient‑centered care—assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations. The role fosters collaboration among nursing staff and physicians to enhance patient outcomes by applying the nursing process and a patient‑centered care plan.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of Maslow’s basic human needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns, and Swanson’s caring model. Superior direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet skills; professional communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation abilities. Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families, thriving in a team environment with open, honest communication.
Supervisory Responsibilities No
Preferred Education / Experience BSN with at least 1 year RN experience preferred.
