Salary Group: TEXAS-B-20. Salary Range: $4,263.16 - $6,779.25 per month.

Responsibilities Nurse I reviews required paperwork and documents to approve or deny Community Attendant Services (CAS) and Day Activity/Health Services (DAHS). Conducts annual reviews and authorizations of CAS services.

Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings with HHSC Community Care Services Eligibility (CCSE) case workers to resolve issues for HHS clients and determine services appropriateness. Maintains confidentiality, adheres to HHSC and CCSE policies.

Provides outstanding customer service in person, over telephone and via email; maintains a positive attitude in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment; serves as an advocate for participants and liaison to other providers. May participate in HHSC fair‑hearings related to service delivery.

Essential Job Functions

Reviews required paperwork and documents, completes and finalizes authorization of services in an automated system, timely and accurately to approve or deny CAS and DAHS (60%).

Documents information manually and into multiple automated systems (10%).

Verifies client information utilizing multiple automated systems TIERS, SASO, SharePoint and others (10%).

Serves as a resource, interprets policies, procedures, rules and regulations for clarification to provider agencies, practitioners and CCSE staff (15%).

Completes special assignments or reports (5%).

Qualifications Must have a valid Texas license as a Registered Nurse or licensed in a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse License Compact Act.

Two years of working experience as an RN required.

Knowledge of nursing care standards, community care services eligibility, individual needs, health laws, ICD‑10 coding, community health principles, agency resources.

Skill in organizing workloads and setting priorities.

Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and other Outlook Office applications.

Ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff; communicates effectively orally and in writing.
