Veterinary Extern – General Practice
Location: Wilcrest Animal Hospital, Houston, TX
Stipend: Up to $2,000 available for students in the clinical phase.
Duration: Minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks (flexible based on student and hospital schedules).
Open to: Veterinary students.
Practice Focus: Small animal general medicine, surgery, dentistry, behavior.

Externship Experience Includes
Taking patient histories and performing physical exams
Developing diagnostic and treatment plans
Assisting with (or performing) surgical and dental procedures
Participating in internal medicine, wellness, and behavioral case workups
Practicing communication skills with both clients and the veterinary team
Externs will work closely with our veterinarians and team members to gain valuable, real‑world experience in a supportive learning environment. You won’t just shadow—you’ll be
actively engaged
in day‑to‑day clinical work, with
mentorship tailored to your interests and experience level .
