Overview
Registered Nurse Full Time at Pasadena Post Acute. General Purpose: The primary responsibility is to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as applicable by the Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), to ensure the highest quality of care. Essential Duties

Administrative Functions: Direct the day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the long-term care facility; develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures; ensure reference materials are current; ensure Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and that staff comply with it; report on operation of the nursing service department; review and revise department policies and procedures; coordinate nursing services with other resident services; participate in quality assurance and facility surveys; assist in discharge planning and planning the nursing services portion of resident discharge plans; plan and participate in department programs and activities; admit, transfer, and discharge residents; complete accident/incident reports; interpret policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and government agencies; perform administrative duties and safeguard resident information and passwords. Committee Functions: Attend and contribute to committee meetings (e.g., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Quality Assurance); prepare reports; provide information to committees; participate in agenda development and regular discharge plan reviews; implement committee recommendations. Personnel Functions: Ensure adequate staffing; plan work assignments; delegate authority to Charge Nurses; supervise nursing assistants and trainees; ensure staff enrollments and supervision; monitor attendance; enforce policies and dress codes; handle performance evaluations and staffing decisions; ensure fair disciplinary actions; report occupational exposures and incidents; ensure security of information systems. Nursing Care Functions: Inform staff of admissions and room assignments; prepare rooms; greet and orient new residents; coordinate with physicians on rounds; plan resident care in collaboration with residents, families, and physicians; monitor resident status daily; ensure licensed nursing staff provide direct care; review nursing notes; administer medications and treatments in accordance with procedures; manage admissions, transfers, and discharges; communicate changes in resident condition; maintain care plans and ensure staff refer to plans; monitor and report on resident status to director. Care Plan and Assessment: Develop preliminary and comprehensive resident assessments and care plans; involve residents in plan development; review and update plans; coordinate MDS planning with relevant staff. Budget and Planning: Monitor economic conditions and recommend adjustments to maintain quality care; suggest equipment needs and maintain inventory; assist in preventive maintenance and safe operation of equipment. Other: Provide direct care as needed; participate in safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness activities; ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards. Supervisory Requirements
Assist with overall supervision and management of the nursing staff. As a registered nurse, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for assigned duties. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices. Two years or more experience, preferably in a long-term care facility. Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability
Demonstrate independent decision-making and problem-solving; ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, and regulatory personnel; demonstrate leadership and supervisory abilities; plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs and procedures for quality care. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care and be a cooperative team member. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current, unencumbered RN license in the state. Current CPR certification. Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred. Maintain continuing education/licensing and stay in good standing with the State Board of Nursing. Physical Demands
Must be able to move intermittently; speak and write English clearly; cope with mental and emotional stress; see and hear or use assistive devices; work independently with flexibility and integrity; meet general health requirements; lift and move a minimum of 25 pounds to 5 feet and carry that weight up to 50 feet; may assist in evacuations. Work Environment
Works in office and nursing service areas; moves intermittently; subject to interruptions; interacts with residents, families, staff, and government agencies; may require after-hours, weekend, and holiday work; exposed to various environmental factors and infectious agents; maintains liaison with residents and families to plan for needs.
