Position Summary Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County is seeking a
Special Education Paraprofessional
to support students with diverse learning needs in a classical education environment. Working under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and school leadership, this role supports the implementation of IEPs, classroom instruction, and behavioral supports to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support
Assist with classroom management and positive behavior interventions
Adapt and modify instructional materials as directed
Support student organization, study skills, and task completion
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and activities
Collect data and assist with monitoring progress toward IEP goals
Support inclusion in general education classrooms and school activities
Assist with adaptive equipment or instructional technology
Support high school students in math
Maintain a safe learning environment and respond to emergencies per school protocols
Participate in meetings, training, and professional development
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior school or special education experience preferred
Willingness to learn and support a classical education model
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Patience, reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Commitment to ACACS mission, policies, and core virtues
Eligibility to work in the United States
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to move throughout classrooms and school buildings
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors
