Custodian
Overview The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.
Roles & Responsibilities
Perform janitorial duties
Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment
Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
Stop at risk behavior of others and self
Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
Perform repetitive tasks
Maintain a clean work area
Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
Take direction and respond to supervision
Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
Fill in during staff shortage
Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
Use proper personal protective equipment
Present a professional appearance and conduct
Understand customer service and satisfaction
Understand reporting systems and environmental concerns
Other duties may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
No specific education required; 3‑6 months of training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid driver’s license; completed safety and task training certification; forklift certification may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bilingual a plus; ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and manuals; strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team; knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Frequent sitting and talking or listening required.
Must be able to lift or move up to 35 pounds.
Compensation and Shift Shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $18.75 per hour
