We are seeking a passionate, dynamic
Science Teacher
to join our team of educators dedicated to academic excellence and equity. The ideal candidate is committed to helping students develop scientific reasoning, problem-solving skills, and curiosity about the natural world while connecting scientific learning to issues of health, the environment, and social justice. Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum Design : Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous Biology lessons aligned with NYS Learning Standards and Regents requirements
Integrate inquiry-based learning, hands-on labs, and real-world applications of science
Incorporate technology to enhance student engagement and data-driven instruction
Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary lessons connecting science to law, policy, and social justice
Assessment and Data Use : Use formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding and growth
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students
Maintain accurate academic records and analyze data to inform instruction
Classroom Culture and Relationships : Foster a safe, inclusive, and academically challenging learning environment
Model respect, fairness, and professionalism in all interactions
Communicate regularly with families to support student learning and growth
Professionalism and Growth : Participate actively in professional learning, collaborative planning, and school initiatives
Reflect on practice and seek opportunities for continuous improvement
Uphold the mission, values, and expectations of the School
Skills and Abilities
Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies
Ability to inspire curiosity and critical thinking in students
Effective collaboration and communication skills
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive pedagogy
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field
New York State Certification in Science
Minimum of two years of prior teaching experience
Demonstrated success working in non-traditional and/or urban school settings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with educational technology (SMART Board, student laptops, etc.)
Willingness to learn and grow professionally
Preferred
Master’s in Secondary Education or a related field
Experience teaching Biology or Living Environment Regents courses
Experience supporting English Language Learners and students with disabilities
