Security Department at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Systems in Jackson, LA
The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric are a coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana.
ELMHS is looking for Correctional Guard Therapeutics who are passionate about supporting patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. In this unique role as a CGT(T), you will combine learned skills to help manage client, deescalate challenging situations, and promote safety and healing in a clinical setting.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties
Responsible for the security and safety of the facility by controlling access at gate entrances to identify employees, visitors, and patients entering/exiting the compounds.
Creates a therapeutic atmosphere in the interaction between clients and staff by using appropriate communication and intervention techniques.
Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.

The position may be filled as a Probational Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency wide permanent status employees); Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected.

Compensation:
Special Entrance Rate (SER) FULL-TIME: Corrections Guard Trainee - Therapeutic $15.16/hr; Corrections Guard Therapeutic - $16.22/hr. Specialty Pays: Various premium pay also available for each hour worked for full-time employees.
