Overview
Job Title: Laborer - Asphalt Milling - Hampton Roads
Department: Paving
Reports to: Paving Foreman
Major Role and Purpose Performs various unskilled tasks that are associated with heavy highway asphalt milling construction operations.
Responsibilities
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Receive daily instruction from the project foreman and/or superintendent.
Shoveling, raking, and spreading of stone, asphalt millings and debris.
Backfilling, tamping, and leveling of stone and paving material.
Maintain the cleanliness of the jobsite and all designated paving and milling areas as required.
Assist other asphalt milling and paving crew members as needed.
Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Education
High School Diploma preferred.
Work Experience
Previous heavy highway milling / paving construction experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
Overtime work is required.
Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
