School of BTT Plumbing Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time) Virginia Western Community College is a two‑year public institution located on a 70‑acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The college serves students in Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County.

This position is for a part‑time Plumbing Adjunct Faculty to teach Friday evening and Saturday day classes. Adjunct faculty are appointed on an as‑needed, course‑by‑course, semester basis.

Responsibilities

Teach college‑level courses in plumbing, including Principles of Plumbing Trade I, Principles of Plumbing Trade II, and Plumbing Code and Certification Preparation.

Prepare and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned instruction using a variety of teaching techniques.

Write syllabi, exams, assessments, and maintain up‑to‑date lesson plans.

Maintain currency in the plumbing discipline and in community college education trends.

Participate actively in departmental communication and professional development activities.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government during emergencies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years occupational experience in the residential and/or commercial plumbing field.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, assessments, and to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Master plumbers license (preferred).

Additional Considerations

Operation of a State Vehicle.

No supervising employees; no required travel.
