is hiring a Behavioral Aide for EastPointe Hospital, a private free‑standing psychiatric hospital for adults located in Daphne, Alabama. The role involves providing 24‑hour clinical care to adults in psychiatric crisis.

General Responsibilities

Provide ongoing monitoring of consumers.

Engage consumers to ensure their safety, needs are met, and participation in planned activities is occurring.

Provide daily assessments of consumers’ behaviors via daily documentation requirements according to policy and standards.

Assist consumers with personal hygiene issues (bathing, toileting, other personal care), medical appointments, chores, recreational activities, and safety issues.

Provide support to teachers during class time, which may include assisting consumers with class assignments, keeping consumers on task, and intervening when necessary.

Ensure unit schedules are followed and encourage consumers to actively participate in planned activities.

Perform hand‑off communication at shift change.

Provide training on basic living skills (BLS) according to the consumers’ treatment goals as identified by the treatment team.

Provide BLS groups and other applicable groups as needed per program schedule.

Complete environment of care unit checklists and report findings to supervisor.

Ensure consumers receive meals and confirm information on the meal count sheet.

Recognize the elements of a crisis state and deescalate or resolve the situation.

Apply seclusion and restraint per AltaPointe policy and procedure.

Respond to crisis situations throughout the facility using proper interventions.

Document crises, protective holds, seclusions, and restraints.

Ensure units, rooms and common areas remain neat, tidy and in good operating condition, encouraging consumers to support the effort.

Effectively collaborate and accurately communicate with treatment team members regarding consumers’ progress, regression, interactions, moods, attitudes, issues, crisis, etc.

Participate in beginning/end of shift unit reporting.

Show discretion when discussing consumers’ information with others.

Report consumer/staff problems to supervisor in a timely manner.

Work willingly on any unit at BayPointe based on facility needs as directed.

Model appropriate behavior including, but not limited to, good communication skills, grooming habits, manners, emotional maturity, etc.

Transport consumer to prescribed locations or go on unit errands as directed.

Meet AltaPointe productivity standards.

Demonstrate the application of child and adolescent specific competencies.

Supervision and Consultation

Seek supervision and consultation as needed.

Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.

Actively work to enhance skills.

Clinical Record Keeping

Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.

Document clearly and concisely the types of consumers’ problems, daily progress notes, progress on BLSs, treatment goals addressed, and services provided.

Document legibly.

Respect consumers’ privacy and confidentiality.

Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned

Actively participate in Performance Improvement activities.

Actively participate in AltaPointe committees as required.

Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures.

Attend appropriate in‑service trainings and workshops.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of five to ten minutes, with occasional extended positions as required by consumer behavior.

Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.

Occasional full squat/lunge from a standing position.

Occasional maintenance of back extension while on the stomach with body weight on hips and legs for several minutes.

Occasional ability to place one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side.

Occasional kneeling and reaching to the same side toward the floor.

Lift up to ten pounds from the floor to various levels, including overhead occasionally during shift.

Lift up to fifty pounds to assist in activities of daily living; able to lift up to fifty pounds from floor to waist.

Use keys to open doors and maintain constant contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure or other hold techniques.

Apply pushing or pulling force up to twenty‑five pounds occasionally during shift.

Ambulate quickly to assist coworkers with a consumer in a restraint procedure (e.g., jog/run up to 0.1 mi).

Perform activities involving playing or games that dictate physical requirements inside or outside the facility as required.

Schedule and Compensation This is a self‑scheduling position. Employees choose preferred shifts three to six weeks in advance based on availability at their location or approved alternate locations. Full‑time employees are required to work three 12‑hour shifts (700 to 730) per week, including some weekend shifts; part‑time employees work one to two shifts per week; PRN employees work about one shift per month. Overtime may be required and scheduled in advance.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.
