UTHealth Houston's Children’s Learning Institute is hiring a Manager, Education Outreach to support the Accelerated Early Reading Outcomes (AERO) project. This role will work no more than 15 hours per week in a hybrid position.

AERO, developed by the Children’s Learning Institute, is an online tutoring and intervention curriculum designed to help struggling readers improve early reading skills. Adapted from the print-based Reading RULES! program for delivery on CLI Engage, AERO enables educators to switch between in‑person and remote instruction while reducing material costs, allowing schools to allocate more resources to staff.

Position Summary Manages individual, complicated projects with multiple study sites, numerous classrooms and multiple trainers and teachers; removes administrative duties from the principal investigator.

Position Key Accountabilities

Coordinates project activities between the Education Outreach Coordinator and classroom teachers; supervises and monitors implementation of training and evaluation methods in classrooms.

Develops and writes statewide curriculum for pre‑kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.

Designs presentations and trains teachers nationwide on current research information and classroom instruction techniques.

Translates current research into lessons for teachers; demonstrates model lessons and provides ongoing side‑by‑side coaching in classroom settings.

Travels to local, state, and national training sites to evaluate classroom instruction.

Evaluates current school textbooks and provides feedback on how to differentiate, improve, and upgrade instruction techniques.

Reviews national reading curriculums continuously.

Writes and directs classroom instructional videos.

Collects and reviews testing data from sites for research; prepares executive summaries and reports upon completion of ongoing classroom sites.

Translates classroom‑teaching materials from English to Spanish.

Provides work direction and guidance to personnel within the department; may lead projects and activities.

Other duties as assigned.

Certification / Skills Knowledge of current reading research applications; experience presenting best practices in reading; experience as a classroom teacher who has supervised and coached teaching.

Teaching certification with required endorsements for subject and level assigned by the State of Texas is preferred.

Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education preferred.

Minimum Experience Eight (8) years of experience in curriculum writing and/or managing school/child‑care programs and/or designing and conducting professional development programs for teachers. Equivalent experience may substitute for the required education beyond the minimum degree.

Physical Requirements Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive This position is security‑sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215, Texas Government Code 411.094, Texas Business and Commerce Code 117.001(2) and 791.4. The holder must maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure and will be routinely reviewed.

Residency Requirement Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Location: Houston, TX. Salary: $135,000.00 – $155,000.00.
