The Role We are seeking a Plant Operator to support the safe, reliable operation of our Owensboro, KY facility. This position is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of landfill gas collection and RNG upgrading systems to maximize production while maintaining environmental and safety compliance. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Control: Monitor, operate, adjust and repair landfill gas and RNG upgrading equipment required to maximize gas production in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.

Startup and Shutdown Procedures: Execute proper startup and shutdown procedures for RNG production systems, maintaining compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Process Optimization: Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize RNG production processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and implementing changes as needed.

Quality Control: Conduct routine checks and tests to ensure the quality of landfill gas to meet specified standards. Troubleshoot and address issues affecting product quality promptly.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks on landfill and plant equipment, including troubleshooting and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety protocols and procedures promoting a culture of safety among team members.

Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of plant operations, including production data, equipment status, and maintenance activities.

Emergency Response: Respond effectively to emergency situations, following established protocols to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of the facility.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Experience & Skills

Mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience using hand tools and working on industrial or plant equipment.

Experience operating, maintaining, or working around heavy equipment.

Comfortable using computers for basic tasks, including data entry and reporting (Microsoft Office).

Ability to follow operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance instructions.

Nice to Have

Experience working with natural gas systems, RNG, landfill gas, oil & gas, or wastewater treatment facilities.

Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drawing software (a plus, not required).

Background in industrial plants, utilities, power generation, or similar environments.

Work Hours Typical day shift schedule of approximately 8‑hour days, Monday through Friday. Hours worked beyond 40 per week are paid as overtime.

On‑Call Rotation approximately once every three weeks for a 7‑day period.

When on call, you must acknowledge alarms within 30 minutes.

You must be able to respond on site within 1 hour if required.

During on‑call weeks, weekend plant coverage is required for daily readings and routine checks. These visits typically take approximately 1 hour per day.
