In San Marcos, TX, we are looking for a Business Assistant to join our thriving state‑of‑the‑art office with a patient‑focused atmosphere.
Role Overview As a Business Assistant, you will support the front office by managing patient interactions, insurance verification, claim submissions, scheduling, and various administrative tasks. You’ll be a vital asset to our team, contributing to the best patient care in our community.
Responsibilities
Greet and welcome patients, creating a great first impression.
Manage front office duties: answer phones, check mail/email, and communicate with patients and insurance companies.
Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping.
Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers.
File patient insurance claims, follow up on outstanding claims, verify benefits, and explain coverage.
Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivable.
Review treatment plan fees and payment options with patients.
Partner with providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office performance.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Access to PHI necessary for job functions with required HIPAA training and PHI protection.
Preferred Experience
1+ year in a dental or medical setting.
1+ year in insurance billing and accounts receivable.
Experience with Dentrix or other dental software.
Physical Requirements
Comfortable with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when needed.
Availability to attend virtual or in‑person training sessions periodically.
Required tuberculosis (TB) test for all new hires in dental office positions.
