Department : Colorado Department of Natural Resources – Colorado Parks & Wildlife
Position Type : Temporary (9 months or less)
Pay : $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
Employment Dates : Approx. 15 April 2026 – 15 October 2026
About the Role : This job bundle includes multiple duties covering aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspection, park maintenance, visitor services, and marina services. The position is temporary and requires dedication to public service, safety, and the protection of Colorado’s natural resources.
Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspector
Staff the ANS inspection station at Navajo State Park
Inspect all arriving boats and conduct boater interviews, regardless of weather conditions
Distribute brochures, promote ANS education, and explain state park regulations to the boating public
Perform light cleaning and maintenance of the inspection area, including interior and exterior fixtures
Accurately record inspection results using written logs or phone‑based software
Document and report visitor complaints when necessary
Work an 8+ hour shift on the ANS station, including lunch, and fulfill all additional duties as assigned
Park Maintenance Technician
Provide general maintenance and cleaning for public facilities—restrooms, showers, cannon toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, cabins, etc.
Operate and maintain state‑owned vehicles and equipment, ensuring quality customer service
Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and material transportation as needed
Maintain clear and clean visitor facilities, supporting an excellent park experience
Perform routine vehicle maintenance and upkeep
Visitor Services Technician
Staff the visitor center, providing information, brochures, and maps to visitors
Orient guests to park facilities and amenities, promote educational programs, and explain park regulations
Sell park passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood, and other merchandise
Operate POS and computer systems to print reports and process sales
Answer telephone calls, take messages, and perform revenue reconciliation at shift end
Maintain the visitor center’s interior and exterior cleanliness, including litter pickup
Assist with special events or programs within the park when required
Marina Services Store / Technician
Assist at the Navajo State Park Marina Store and the Two Rivers Marina dock
Rent and prep boats for visitors, and inspect/clean boats upon return
Sell gas, park passes, boat registrations, merchandise, clothing, and other items using POS systems
Provide standard regulations and shuttle services to mooring boat owners when on dock
Assist Rangers with boat retrievals and perform light maintenance of store/dock facilities
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum age 16 years; reliable transportation to/from work
Valid First Aid and CPR certifications (where required)
Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays
Successful completion of background checks and required training (e.g., ANS Certified Training)
For maintenance roles: Ability to lift 75–100 pounds repeatedly, knowledge of power/hand tools, and first‑aid competency
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather and operate vehicles as required
