Position Summary The Yard Assistant supports the daily operations of Brewster Companies' equipment yard by assisting mechanics, performing small equipment repairs, delivering materials, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring that equipment and materials are readily available for field crews. With proven performance, the Yard Assistant position has the potential to transition into an apprentice mechanic role.

Job Duties

Provide regular assistance and maintain clear communication with the Operations Manager and mechanics.

Deliver small equipment and materials to and from jobsites as needed.

Perform small repairs and routine maintenance of equipment under direction.

Verify proper operation of small equipment upon return to the yard.

Maintain cleanliness of equipment with regular washings.

Keep the shop and yard clean and organized.

Pick up and/or deliver parts, materials, and supplies to mechanics and jobsites.

Assist with equipment logistics and movement on/off company yard.

Conduct routine maintenance of office and safety equipment (light bulbs, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, etc.).

Perform building and grounds maintenance tasks as needed.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Valid driver's license.

Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.

Basic understanding of PPE and on-site safety requirements.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.
