The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is hiring a Mechanic for District 6 located in Rigby, Idaho. This position offers a $1,500 Sign‑On Bonus and is open until the posting end date or until filled.

About the role
Repair and maintain heavy-duty road maintenance and construction equipment and light-duty vehicles in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair techniques for a variety of vehicles and equipment.
Assist with training to advance to Equipment Technician classification within 2 years.
Maintain records using word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Additional Requirements
Obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 60 days of hire.
Pass pre-Employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
Examples of Duties
Diagnose and repair equipment such as motor graders, sweepers, excavators, dozers, frontend loaders, equipment trailers, sanders, 10-wheel trucks, 6-wheel trucks, and various light-duty equipment.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems, including computer control components and high-voltage AC currents.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain heating and air-conditioning systems in vehicles and equipment.
Manufacture and weld components for equipment, including snowplow harnesses and sander parts.
Mount and balance tires, repair minor tire issues.
Repair steering and suspension systems on heavy-duty trucks.
Fabricate hydraulic systems and attachments for district equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of safety precautions and procedures related to mechanical equipment and repair shops.
Familiarity with the use, care, and disposal of hazardous automotive material and waste.
Experience
Diagnosing and repairing gasoline and/or diesel automotive and construction equipment.
Using specialized tools to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul on engines, drivetrain, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Preparing records and reports.
Diagnosing and repairing electronic and computer-controlled motor vehicle systems.
Reading and interpreting technical service manuals.
Valid driver’s license required.
