Our Client, a American Network Infrastructure Provider company, is looking for a Payroll Clerk 3 for their Springfield, IL location.
Responsibilities
The main function of a Payroll Clerk is to compile and post employee time and payroll data.
May compute employees' time worked, production, and commission
May compute and post wages and deductions
May prepare paychecks.
Responsible for processing and reviewing multi-state payrolls to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies and government regulations.
Ensures employees have proper tax jurisdiction setup and required forms.
Analyze and remit benefit deductions.
Assists in preparing input for special payments.
Works closely with management on issues and projects as assigned.
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of assigned multi-state payrolls including processing payments for bonuses, commissions, short term disability, new hires, termination payouts, pay increases, and transfers.
Assist with reviewing payrolls; identify errors and/or discrepancies and work with payroll coordinators to rectify
Prepare payroll import files for additional pays, bonuses, commissions, awards, etc.
Establish and maintain a positive relationship with HR, supervisors and managers
Ensure timely submission of payroll related data to meet deadlines
Reconcile, balance and submit wire request for payroll/benefits funding
Assist with audits by collecting backup for selected samples
Prepare ad hoc reports on payroll related items and perform an analysis of data as assigned or requested by management
Assist with payroll tax related inquiries and resolutions as requested by management
Provide ongoing assistance to users of payroll systems
Participate on payroll system conversions and upgrade project teams
Assist with year-end processes and W-2 distribution
Requirements
Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.
Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software.
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's degree in accounting or related financial discipline preferred.
5-7 years financial and/or accounting experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent:
Associate’s in related curriculum such as
Bachelor’s in related curriculum such as Accounting/Finance
Master’s in related curriculum such
Minimum of 2 years payroll or accounting experience required
Experience processing multi-state payrolls and knowledge of taxes and payroll related benefits (i.e. 401k, HSA, FSA, etc) preferred
Prior experience with SAP, UKG, and Kronos systems preferred
Proficient in Excel and comfortable using VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be well organized, able to work under time constraints, and be able to multi task
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Must have strong ethics and a commitment to continually preserving the integrity and security of employee data
