Overview
Performs responsible work coordinating community engagement, programs, events, outreach, and partnerships to expand recreation services to the community, and does related work as required. Work will be performed in but not limited to recreation centers, community centers, parks and greenspaces, and community neighborhoods. Work is conducted under the general supervision of designated supervisor, and is reviewed through observations, evaluations, and effectiveness of programs offered. Planning, promoting, implementing, participating in and evaluating community programs, events and activities; developing and facilitating community partnerships and outreach.

Plans, promotes, implements, and evaluates community programs.
Develops a monthly schedule of programs, events, and activities to market to the community.
Develops community partnerships.
Facilitates outreach.
Acts as a liaison between the department and community members; gains feedback.
Registers participants for activities and programs.
Maintains and cleans recreation equipment.
Oversees part time staff and volunteers.
Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation including knowledge and proper use of equipment, techniques, rules, and regulations of programs for different age groups; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants, community organizations, and the general public.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, public administration, or a related field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Possession of an appropriate Commercial Driver’s License (P endorsement) valid in the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain within six (6) months. Possession of First Aid/CPR certification required or must be obtained during the initial six (6) months of employment.
