Job Description – Essential Functions

Frequently supervises staff, providing verbal and written communications regarding work assignments and performance, with supervisory responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager.

Addresses customer complaints, resolves conflicts, and provides assistance as needed.

Processes customer transactions quickly and accurately within cash‑handling guidelines; engages with customers on the sales floor and provides assistance.

Maintains, reports, and manages the store’s financial assets such as cash register tills, cash deposits, and the change fund.

Maintains visual presentations (hardgoods end caps, H‑rack displays, shoe racks, etc.) and proper merchandise rotation.

Ensures a clean and safe environment in the stores, processing area, and donation center, adhering to good housekeeping practices or delegating those tasks to team members.

Meets or exceeds daily production goals for grading, sorting, hanging, pricing, and tagging donated items per all company guidelines.

Opens and closes the store during designated hours, verifying all monies, cash drawers, deposit preparation, close‑of‑business paperwork, and opening paperwork.

Ensures personnel comply with company guidelines to exceed customer and donor experiences and demonstrate appropriate interactions.

Cross‑trained to work in all areas of the retail operation.

Prepares and implements daily huddle meetings and mandatory monthly meetings with staff.

Actively maintains a safe, healthy, and positive environment that promotes the well‑being of team members, customers, and those in the store.

Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting, including restrooms and dressing rooms.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

12–18 months of related experience and/or training.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledgeable of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Effective communication with store employees.

Ability to push/pull loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.

Ability to understand, communicate, and enforce policies and procedures.

Ability to learn new processes quickly and possess strong organizational skills.

Problem‑solving, prioritizing, and multitasking skills.

Ability to travel to and work at other locations as needed.

Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and budget management; ability to read and complete forms.

Basic computer skills (Excel, e‑mail).

Reliable transportation; travel to other Goodwill locations and bank deposits as needed.

Availability to work a varied schedule that includes nights and weekends.

Certifications and Licenses

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & Licenses

High school diploma required.

Experience in customer service preferred.

Experience in office management preferred.
