Job Title: Adjunct Faculty, Biology Location: LSC-Houston North Victory Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Part-Time Job ID: 43050 This position upholds Lone Star College missions and cultural beliefs as described in the original job posting. Essential Job Functions
Teaches Biology courses at a variety of times and locations Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meets with and advises students before/after class or by appointment and via electronic communication Evaluates students to measure progress and informs students of their progress in a timely manner Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Other reasonable related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership skills; collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with a wide variety of people and appreciate alternative viewpoints Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning and distance learning Commitment to academic excellence and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and use of technology Ability to engage students with effective instructional strategies Physical Abilities
Work is sedentary with typical classroom or office activity; occasional walking, standing, bending; no special physical demands Work Schedule And Conditions
Equipment includes standard PC workstation, calculator, phone and other general office equipment Interface with internal and external contacts as needed Work is performed in climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environments with minimal safety hazards Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available to students outside of class Required Qualifications
A master's degree or higher in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences, or a master's degree or higher with 18 graduate credits in the field Salary: $55.44 per contact hour. Additional Information
