Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dependable and detail‑focused individual to join their team as a
Machine Operator . In this hands‑on role, you’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machines—both manual and computerized. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring high‑quality production by inspecting finished workpieces, adjusting machinery, and keeping equipment in top working condition. This position is ideal for someone with a background in manufacturing or woodworking who enjoys working with tools and precision equipment in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, program, operate, and maintain both computerized and manual machinery, including drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood‑nailing equipment.
Inspect finished workpieces for smoothness, shape, angle, cut depth, and overall compliance with specifications, using visual checks and measuring tools such as calipers, rules, templates, and gauges.
Start machinery, fine‑tune controls, and perform trial cuts to confirm proper machine operation.
Continuously monitor machine performance, making necessary adjustments to address issues and maintain adherence to production specifications.
Install and calibrate blades, cutterheads, boring bits, and sanding belts using appropriate hand tools and measurement instruments.
Qualifications
Ability to lift 50 pounds on occasion.
Machine Operation experience highly preferred.
Attention to detail in manufacturing settings.
Experience using calipers to measure products is a plus.
Any experience identifying wood species (oak, cherry, walnut) is a plus.
Any experience grading lumber is a plus.
Ability to be flexible with work schedule (flex between 8 and 10 hours a shift).
