Key Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, and repair a variety of precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.

Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models for tool manufacturing.

Perform precision measurements using a wide range of inspection tools to ensure accuracy and quality.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with tooling performance or wear.

Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool construction.

Conduct routine maintenance and preventative care on tooling to extend lifespan and maintain performance.

Recommended Qualifications

Completed apprenticeship or equivalent formal training in tool and die making.

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with precision machining equipment (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Demonstrated expertise in using a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM).

Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and programming.

Experience with advanced machining techniques such as EDM, Wire EDM, or 5‑axis milling.

Ability to operate and/or program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for precision inspection.

Basic welding or fabrication skills for tool repair and fixture building.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
