Furnace Operator
(Heat Treater) in
Sturtevant, WI .
Position Summary Based in Sturtevant, WI, the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.
Responsibilities
Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
Responsible for the care and treatment of customers’ inventory, ensuring safety and preventing loss or damage.
Must have the ability to report to work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Levels / Experience
Level C: Entry Level
– 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience. Learns and grows in the role with guidance from senior team members.
Level B: Mid-Level
– 2 to 3 years of experience. Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment independently, collaborating across teams.
Level A: Senior-Level
– 3 to 5 years of experience. Leads initiatives, mentors junior team members, and makes strategic contributions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Working knowledge of metallurgy and temperatures.
May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
Must obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Physical & Mental Demands
Work standing for extended periods in an industrial environment.
Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, etc.
Auditory ability to hear in person and via phone.
