2nd Shift, Monday through Friday 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM (5 days, 40 hours, occasional overtime)
Pay:
$20.05 - $24.51 per hour (Band 2). Higher levels may be eligible for higher pay based on experience.
Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures at all times, including lock‑out/tag‑out procedures during cleaning or maintenance.
Retrieve and load materials, prepare jobs for conversion, and operate production equipment for printing, laminating, cutting, end sheet fabrication, perfect binding, case making, casing binding, and associated support equipment.
Communicate orally or in writing about process changes and equipment failures.
Monitor product quality and report all variations to the manager.
Participate in Lean and continuous‑improvement events and initiatives.
Work in a manner that aligns with DIY’s values.
Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of machine operation experience.
Prior book‑manufacturing equipment experience (printing, binding, or finishing) is preferred.
Ability to understand and use Basic English (spoken and written).
Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals).
Understanding of Standard/Imperial and optional metric measurements; basic measuring instruments (micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure).
Organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to earn pallet jack certification with training provided by DIY.
Physical Demands
Standing/walking for the entire shift.
Extended periods of repetitive motion.
Walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
