Maintenance Technician
reports directly to maintenance supervision and works closely with other maintenance team members to ensure the reliability of the plant's equipment. The position involves repairing and maintaining equipment, machinery, and facilities, performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and completing repairs to keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, machinery, and facilities.
Follow maintenance schedules and ensure that tasks are completed on time to minimize equipment downtime.
Identify and report potential maintenance issues before they become problems.
Diagnose and repair faulty equipment, machinery, or systems.
Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble machinery and systems to identify issues or required repairs.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Install and set up new equipment or machinery as part of company projects.
Coordinate and test newly installed equipment to ensure proper operation.
Maintain and ensure that maintenance tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.
Safely use and care for a variety of tools and machinery.
Ensure the maintenance work area is organized and complies with safety standards.
Log and record maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Report maintenance issues and completed tasks to supervision.
Maintain accurate maintenance records for equipment and facilities.
Follow company safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure safe working conditions.
Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards, environmental policies, and health regulations.
Participate in training programs and workshops to develop technical knowledge and skills in various maintenance areas.
Stay up to date with best practices and new technologies in the maintenance field.
Be willing to learn new techniques and troubleshooting methods.
Shadow senior maintenance personnel to learn new techniques and troubleshooting methods.
Report to work as scheduled, on time, and in the proper uniform.
Review shift reports and meet with the outbound team to understand the current state of operations and mechanical issues.
Receive work tasks via CMMS or verbal and written instruction from supervision.
Conduct daily facility checks (e.g., compressor check, boiler checks, ammonia checks, sifter screen checks, air drier checks).
Report issues as they arise to supervision in a timely manner.
Check parts out of the inventory system correctly and accurately.
Upload work orders into CMMS.
Meet with the inbound team at the end of the shift to communicate the current state of operations and mechanical issues.
Send a report via email at the end of the shift outlining the day's performance and issues.
Qualifications and Skills
Strong industrial electrical experience required.
Minimum of high school diploma and 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, 3‑phase motors, variable speed drives, and controls.
Ability to work with minimal supervision within a team environment.
Must have good practical sense working with and troubleshooting equipment problems.
Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
Work Environment This job operates in a production environment. The employee is frequently exposed to facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
