Facilities Assistant, Dennison Theatre 4 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants

Description The Dennison Theatre invites applications for a Facilities Assistant to serve as head custodian on an intermittent basis. Schedule will be determined by events but will average 30 hours a week.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Coordinate closely with Dennison Directors to schedule building maintenance, carpet cleaning, and related services.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of facility operations.

Serve as backstage technical staff for performances as needed, working with Dennison Theatre clients.

Attend bi‑weekly production meetings with non‑student venue staff, based on upcoming events.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of safe use of chemical cleaning products.

Knowledge of backstage technical best practices and safety.

Able to work effectively with a variety of diverse groups of individuals and members of the public.

Preferred Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalence and (1) year of related experience.

Experience with concert or event spaces.

Able to work nights & weekends.

Physical Requirements (Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.)

Lifting: Floor to 30 inches, up to 50 pounds; Floor to 60 inches, up to 35 pounds; Floor to overhead, up to 5 pounds sustained, with both hands. (Lifting buffer, Floor to 30", 70 pounds optional.)

Carrying: 2‑handed front carry up to 35 pounds for 50 feet; (Carrying buffer up stairs, 70 pounds optional.)

Pushing and pulling forces required (during the use of cleaning equipment 25 pounds, handling janitor's cart 5 pounds).

Pushing and pulling forces required (handling, pushing and pulling classroom and office furniture, file cabinets, and equipment): 30 pounds sustained at waist level (60 pounds optional)

Static trunk forward bending and twisting from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools.

Reaching with arms in all directions, including overhead with 5 pounds in both hands, sustained.

Working overhead from various positions (standing, squatting, and kneeling).

Balancing when climbing and working on a ladder.

Use of various hand grip circumferences and firm hand grip positions while manipulating various tools and equipment (maximum 50 pounds).

Physical Screen Physical Screen will be administered prior to a final offer of employment.

Compensation Title: Facilities Assistant

Union: FOCUS-MFPE

Work Schedule: Part‑time, Intermittent, averaging 0.75 FTE (30 hours a week) depending on Dennison Theatre events, 12 months/year

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
