Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Mental Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and expanding trauma‑informed and mental wellness initiatives under the Byrne SCIP‑funded Partnerships for Prevention and Protection (P4) and Handle With Care (HWC) programs. This role focuses on facilitating P4 student groups, coordinating statewide training on trauma‑informed practices, and collaborating closely with the Handle With Care Statewide Coordinator to ensure consistent implementation and data collection across partner sites. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. This position is established in support of expanded research activities.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and 1 or more years of experience.

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) preferred.

Bilingual speakers preferred.

Experience in facilitating small groups with children.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of early childhood development and trauma‑informed practices;

Experience in facilitating small groups with children;

Strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and resilience frameworks;

Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners;

Knowledge of the UCEDD network and the P4/HWC Initiative;

Excellent public speaking and training skills;

Job Duties Facilitates weekly P4 groups within designated school districts (e.g., Lexington School District 3), including developing and maintaining weekly lesson plans, attendance records, and progress documentation. Administers and analyzes before, mid, and post surveys for students, parents, and teachers to measure the impact of the P4 initiative.

Develops and conducts training/workshops/professional development, and participates in community events to provide outreach information on trauma‑informed practices and mental wellness strategies.

Provides oversight for CDR student trainees who will help conduct outreach activities in underserved communities.

Participates in monthly Points of Contact meetings, Quarterly Steering Committee meetings, and Advisory Board sessions. Contributes to the HWC SC Newsletter, website updates, and other communication materials. Assists in the development and distribution of the P4 Newsletter, P4 Student Intern Handbook, and P4 Implementation Guide.

Performs related duties as needed.
