Bartelt Machine Operator The Bartelt Machine Operator is the primary operator of the Bartelt machine and is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and production of customer orders and for meeting specifications for quality and efficiency. The Operator ensures the Bartelt machine is operating properly and must follow company procedures for safety and provide accurate and timely reporting of production data to comply with the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables
Responsible for operating Bartelt machinery and ensuring all company safety procedures are followed in the production work area.
Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation.
Monitor Bartelt equipment to ensure quality production and reduce unplanned downtime.
Responsible for changing film and zipper.
Makes machine adjustments for proper bag fill and position, as needed.
Assist the maintenance department with scheduled preventive maintenance between production runs.
Tasked with housekeeping duties.
Inspect machine outputs for quality control.
Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks between production runs.
Ensure a safe work environment and abide by 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Perform in-process inspections of parts throughout the production run and ensure they meet documented and visual standards of acceptance.
Monitors production efficiency: addresses line stoppage and initiates immediate problem-solving to correct the cause.
Collaborating with line leads to ensure proper reports/daily activities are submitted.
Assures all manufacturing equipment is well maintained and calibrated.
Feed new material as it is consumed, test manufactured products against quality standards, and make operational adjustments as necessary throughout production.
Adhere to materials FIFO (First In - First Out) returning material correctly and timely.

High School or GED
Experience
3 years of Bartlet Operator experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with vertical/horizontal baggers and text wrappers.
Machine shop math and blueprint reading skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment.
Ability to problem-solve.
Ability to set up and run jobs without supervision.
Self-motivated, focused, and results oriented.
Troubleshooting experience.
Technology/Software
Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Communication
Able to read and write English.
Bilingual Spanish and English are preferred.
Effective at building quick interpersonal rapport and trust.
Ability to write and speak clearly to openly communicate.
Physical Capabilities Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion)
Have ability to regularly lift, carry, turn, and rise; and/or lift turn and bend down to place a unit weighing up to 50 lb. on to a pallet or stack of units.
Movement (standing, stopping, sitting, crouching, crawling)
Have full mobility in, and use of, arms, hands, and legs.
Have ability to sit for long periods of time.
Hearing (loud noise tolerance, quiet work area, public speaking, receive work direction)
Able to function in a semi loud environment, with frequent loud bursts of noise (such as backup siren).
Vision (judge distance, read signs, extended computer work, identify details)
Able to see so as to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
