The Assistant Division Chief is a pillar in upholding the Commonwealth's financial excellence and integrity for Pennsylvania taxpayers, ensuring protection of the public interest.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for managing the staff and operations of the school audit teams with the Special Audit Services Division of the Bureau of Audits (BOA).
Support the Department of Education (PDE) by providing key oversight of all Commonwealth school districts and ensuring alignment with Pennsylvania School Code and other applicable policies.
Oversee the development and implementation of auditing procedures that provide stakeholders with additional assurance on school operations.
Develop and implement a risk‑based approach to school audits.
Oversee Audit Managers who manage teams of school auditors conducting audits and other engagement services.
Represent the Bureau Director in executive‑level meetings.
Evaluate and provide feedback on information systems under development to ensure adequate controls are designed and implemented.
Monitor assigned engagements to ensure timeliness, accuracy, completeness, quality and compliance.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full‑time with occasional in‑office days when work dictates such requirements. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you cannot telework, you may report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Availability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Five years of professional financial auditing experience including two years in a supervisory capacity and a bachelor’s degree including twenty‑four credits in accounting; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional supervisory financial auditing experience and twenty‑four credits in accounting.
Additional Requirements
You must have at least 5 years of experience in any one of the following areas:
Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS/Yellow Book)
Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) Standards
Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
Standards American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Standards.
Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book)/COSO
Note: Any combination of experience equaling 5 years in the above areas is acceptable.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
One of the following accounting certifications:
CPA, Certified Public Accountant
CFE, Certified Fraud Examiner
CISA, Certified Information Systems Auditor
CIA, Certified Internal Auditor
