What Your Job Will Be Like Are you passionate about your work and enjoy exploring solutions? We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Administrative Support (Full-Time Employee) to join the Background Review Office within the Personnel Security Department. We are responsible for processing pre-employment background reviews, supporting the Security Review Board (SRB) and reporting events and circumstances of security interest to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This role provides an opportunity to learn from and support the Personnel Security Department.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Process Pre-Employment Background Reviews (PEBRs) consisting of applicant background information

Contact external entities or organizations to conduct employment verifications and perform telephone reference checks

Access public records and commercially available data source checks

Research information within a variety of databases

Assist clearance applicants/holders with reporting requirements

Assist the SRB Program Manager by providing administrative support, including drafting scripts, composing memorandums, and entering data into databases

* Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100%.

Salary Range $47,400 - $87,200

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

Relevant Associate’s Degree or high school diploma plus five (5) or more years of administrative support, customer service, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Active DOE Q-level security clearance required to start.

Qualifications We Desire

Experience in one or more major security areas: information security, physical security, personnel security, or cyber security

Knowledge and experience with various requirements related to the protection of confidential information (e.g., Personally Identifiable Information)

Ability to work independently within a diverse, dynamic, and changing customer base environment

Experience in audits, inventory, assessments, and data entry/analysis

Strong interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking skills, and a focus on customer service

Broad understanding of Sandia programs, policies, organizations, procedures, and administrative systems as well as familiarity with DOE directives and Safeguards and Security requirements

Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office products

Ability to effectively communicate and partner with leadership (Senior Manager and above)

About Our Team Personnel Security includes the Badge Office, Clearance Office, Uncleared Personal Identify Verification Program, Human Reliability Program, and Background Review Office. We ensure positive access control for DOE resources through the issuance of DOE badges, processing of security clearances and visits, and administration of the Human Reliability Program. We also conduct background investigations on potential employees of Sandia and visitors requiring site access.

Security Clearance Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency. Sandia conducts pre-employment drug tests and background reviews including checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants must be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship, this may impact your ability to obtain a clearance. Applicants are subject to a federal background investigation to meet clearance requirements. Substance abuse, falsification of information, criminal activity, or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated.
