Communication, Surveillance, and Safety Coordinator - YSS III
Join the Colorado Department of Revenue as a Communication, Surveillance, and Safety Coordinator – YSS III. This role supports the Division of Youth Services (DYS) by ensuring the effective and ethical management of body‑worn camera (BWC) and related safety equipment, providing incident response coaching, maintaining security protocols, and supporting investigative and quality‑control functions.
Location Prairie Vista Youth Service Center, 192 Bromley Business Pkwy., Brighton, CO 80603.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison with BWC vendor, manage staff user profiles, and enforce camera usage policies.
Review and analyze video and incident data, ensuring compliance with CDHS and DYS policies such as HIPAA, internal investigations, and confidentiality requirements.
Coach, train, and mentor direct‑care staff on incident response, de‑escalation, and use of body‑worn cameras.
Oversee safety equipment—radios, stationary cameras, DVRs, metal detectors, perimeter lighting—and conduct regular inspections and drills.
Coordinate incident debriefs, compile incident reports, and support internal quality‑control and investigative teams.
Maintain professional boundaries, uphold policies, and protect the dignity, equity, and safety of youth and staff.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to this position.
Ability to physically intervene with assaultive youth and perform job‑related physical tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
College education in behavioral health, juvenile justice, or related field.
Experience working with adjudicated or detained youth in a secure or behavioral‑health setting.
Experience facilitating psycho‑educational groups or working with trauma‑informed youth
