A healthcare opportunity is available for a registered nurse with stepdown experience in a busy surgical trauma unit. This contract position is based in Fort Worth, TX, offering an engaging environment caring for a diverse patient population requiring acute surgical and post-operative care. Location: The role is located on the 5th floor of a main medical building equipped with modern technology and a strong support team. The unit is a Level 2 trauma center, with 25 beds and 44 full-time equivalent nursing staff. This high-acuity setting treats patients with complex needs including trauma surgery, neuro/spine cases, vascular, orthopedic, and cardiac post-op care. Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to surgical trauma and stepdown patients Perform patient assessments every 4 hours including vitals and telemetry monitoring Manage IV drips and medications such as amiodarone, heparin, dobutamine, nitroglycerin, and others according to protocols Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes Monitor patients with neurological diagnoses, cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory distress, and post-op conditions Adapt to a fast-paced environment following established unit policies Qualifications: Current RN licensure with stepdown or progressive care experience required Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH mandatory Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical records preferred Strong communication skills and patient-focused approach Trauma and orthopedic nursing experience is a plus Schedule: Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM This contract role provides an excellent chance to work in a high-performing surgical trauma unit with a committed team.
