Network Communications Engineer

to support an enterprise environment for Navy/Marine Corp near

Seattle, Washington . The team is seeking an individual who is well-versed across network infrastructure to support configuration of networks and integration & testing of complex large-scale integrated networks.

Clearance: Secret Clearance (required)

Location: Whidbey Island, Seattle, WA (100% onsite)

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer

Conduct comprehensive assessments of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software systems to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues across Local Area Networks (LAN), Base Area Networks (BAN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN), including identifying root causes of outages, latency, and configuration errors.

Oversee daily operations of network environments, including monitoring performance, applying security patches, and managing user access. Ensure compliance with organizational standards and implement best practices for network reliability and scalability.

Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and network transitions with minimal downtime. Develop detailed timelines, risk assessments, and contingency plans to ensure smooth cutovers and maintain business continuity.

Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, end-users, and external vendors. Facilitate communication to align network changes with operational needs, provide status updates, and resolve cross-site connectivity challenges.

Perform advanced configuration of network devices, including VLAN setup, routing protocols, and QoS policies. Support integration of new hardware/software into existing infrastructure and conduct rigorous testing to validate functionality, security, and performance before deployment.

Qualifications of the Network Engineer

Active Secret Clearance required

Certifications: IAT II (Sec+, CySA+, CASP+, SecurityX, etc.) AND CCNA

Bachelors Degree in related field plus 4+ years of professional experience supporting enterprise networking environments

Experience supporting Cisco based enterprise environments

Experience administering networks on LAN/WAN

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaison with the customer

Compensation of the Network Engineer

Total compensation based on experience level - $80,000-$90,000 based on years of experience and degree level
