Overview
In collaboration with the President & CEO, the
Director of Development
is responsible for managing the successful implementation of organizational philanthropy goals of the
YMCA of Southern Maine
in order to advance the YMCA’s mission.
Location: 70 Forest Avenue Portland, Maine 04101 United States
Responsibilities
Help us grow our AnnualCampaign usingin partnership with our CEO and Senior Leadership.
Using a collaborative approach,identify,cultivateand secure significant new donations each year.
Support Capital Campaign efforts.
Research, develop recommendations, cultivate relationships in support of, and support application for keygrant.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
Help us grow Peaks to Portland through event sponsors and swimmer fundraising, in collaboration with the CEO.
Supports large donor asks.
Creates impactful materials to help potential donors understand the YMCA and how they can contribute to our mission.
Qualifications
Three to five years of professional experience, with a background in fundraising growthrequired.
CFRE or equivalenta bonus.
Strong writing skills, in addition to foundation and government grant writingexpertise.
Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
Experience with event planning preferred.
Detailed-oriented, with superior communication skills and the ability to clearly express ideas both verbally and in writing.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to be flexible and prioritize tasks.
Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software systems quickly. Experience with fund-raising and wealth-screening software preferred.
Valid driver’s license, reliablevehicleand ability to travel locally.
A criminal background check isrequiredand may include fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), prior tohire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical,sensoryand cognitive requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
